RIP Uncle Tim

On Christmas day Dad P told us that Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tim went on a walk. Uncle Tim said he had to go to the bathroom so he headed back home. He apparently collapsed with a heart attack and was found a young neighbor. The medics worked hard to revive him and he was taken to the hospital. He was placed in a medically induced coma to cool him down and many tests would be run. His heart was repaired but continued to lose brain activity. He would remain in the hospital for a week, with his boys and Aunt Kelly by his side. Aunt Colleen was there the whole time and on the 26th Dad P and Aunt Tina would fly out to North Carolina aswell. Grandpa had not been cleared by the doctor to fly so they would get down as soon as they could. We held onto every text message that was forwarded, we prayed hard, we all asked why, and even sometimes questioned God's actions. Uncle Tim is only 53 years old. Shane is a senior in high school while Troy barely starting college. He has not seen his boys graduate, get married have babies. Aunt Kelly and him were counting down the 6months before they would have both boys in college and they could travel together. He is a strong Texan with a heart of gold! He is a marine and and amazing father, husband, uncle, and friend! Somehow with all our praying we held hope...At about 1:30 our time we recieved a devastating text message that said Rest in Peace Uncle. Dennis sat on the stairs and cried and I did the same. The Sliders will never be the same and I dont think the Pattison's will either. I am so so glad we saw him twice this year. We spent an amazing time in Port Austin and at the wedding with him and the family. I can honestly say I have never met another person who lit up the room with such presence, his kind heart and laughter made everyone feel special. I am so sad he will not meet my baby girl. My heart breaks for Aunt Kelly because I cant imagine a life without the person you love, I amd devasted for the boys because I can't imagine how they will fill the void of their father. Nothing is more important than the people you love. Watch down on us and bless us from heaven Uncle Tim. We love you!

I wanted to share what Aunt Kelly and the boys posted on facebook following Uncle Tim's passing.

To the love of my life and the man who loved his family above all else and taught us all that every day is another day in paradise, we will honor all you loved.

Just Another Day In Paradise

Timothy Clarke Slider of Cary, North Carolina passed away on December 30th at 4:00 p.m. leaving his family and friends to make a daily toast to him in Heaven as it is “4 o’clock somewhere.”

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, trust and an intuitive ability to get to the heart of things, his heart was strong, as was his love for his family which he treasured over all else.

His wife, Kelly, and sons, Troy and Shane, share the knowledge that grace and joy in abundance are his as he sits in Heaven. He is grieved by family and friends in North Carolina, Texas and Michigan. All are holding each other just a little bit tighter every day and dedicating daily celebrations of the little things in life to Tim’s memory.

A celebration Mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Apex, NC on Friday, January 6th, at 2 pm. Immediately following Mass, please join us at a reception at the family home as we share stories of Tim’s life.

Did you somehow know Dad? I am so blessed that you are a father, and so grateful and thankful for the mother and brother that you gave me. Everyday was a treat. You are a gentleman, Marine, dad, husband, and leader that all of us should strive to be like... and we will strive to be like you in order to honor you and also because you taught us to live and treat each other the way you treated us all.... Your unique ability to be so content with the simple, little things such as our family and our time together is so comforting and rare. Tangible things could not please you. You taught me that experiences mattered the most, and we have so many great memories and experiences together as a family that will comfort us and inspire us when we feel weak. I owe all that I am, and all that I have done to you. Please keep your loved ones close, and let them know exactly how you feel about them, just as my dad did with all of us, you will never regret it. I hope they've got Slider beers up there, keep one cold for me. I love you dad. Semper Fi. Go Cowboys. God bless.

It's crazy how your whole life can change in 6 days. Watching baby videos knowing you cant be there laughing with me will never feel normal. I can't believe you're gone. I love you Tim Slider and know you're having a damn good time in heaven. RIP Dad.

A Tearful Christmas Day

Christmas Day at the Pattison's is finally here! We started our morning as we normally do with some music, coffee (oj in my case) and stockings. We all got such nice goodies from my in-laws! Then it was on to presents! We were on a time constraint since we had to be at Aunt Tina's for breakfast. We slipped the gold box with the ultra sound picture saying "It's a girl" under the tree. Dennis said whenever mom got to it would be fine. Michele did a great job distributing gifts this year. She loves watching people open presents. After a while of opening gifts Mom came to the gold box..I nudged Michele to watch since she was still under the tree seperating the gifts. Mom P opened the box and her reaction was super cute. She put her hands on her face in shock. It was a bit awkward cause no one knew what she had opened. She finally said it's a girl! Then Michele screamed...IT'S A GIRL!!! She started jumping up and down...she was soo adorable!! haha. Dennis and I got teary eyed which is so common for me...but Dennis??? It was a perfect way to tell our family. We finished opending all of our gifts. Our big gifts from Mom and Dad P were Coach Bags and the boys got beautiful leather laptap bags from Italy.

After we spent a great morning together Dad sat us down. He told us he had bad news.He very seriously explained what happened to Uncle Tim. It was such aweful news we all sat there in shock and I don't think it really seemed real to any of us. He would be on our minds non stop! This is the worst news for any family and hope and pray uncle Tim gets better soon.

We headed to Aunt Tina's and just hugged each other a little tighter. They were excited to hear we are having a baby girl. Oh my it feels so weird to even write it! We had breakfast and then opened more gifts. We called Grandma and Grandpa...Grandma said "Well finally we will have a little girl." haha. I think we all fell in love with Flynn as he opened his gifts! He was so excited to unwrap all the gifts. What a cutie pie!

We headed home to prepare for Christmas dinner. Alan and Gayle joined the family this year. While the women chatted in the kitchen, the guys hung out in the patio. We ate an awesome dinner that Mom P worked so hard on. When we all gathered hands Aunt Tina began the prayer. It was hard for her to get through it as her voice cracked and trembled. Earlier in the day she told me she was not ready to lose a brother. We all sat down to enjoy dinner and D and I sat at the kids table..I have a feeling that will be our usual table from now on. The onion loaf, the lasagna and the jello are my favorite. After dinner we all sat and watched Michele and John's video. It was so great to watch it and re-live what a great day that was.

We finished the night with some karaoke and for D and I with some tears. He drank a whole lot and I had been pretty emotional all day. With the passing of Jim, finding out about our baby girl and then the news about Uncle Tim, Dennis was an emotional wreck. We later talked about how blessed we are to have each other, our family, our new baby on the way and how so much was happening around us that we could not control. We finally went to bed and held each other a little tighter and prayed for Uncle Tim.

Our Christmas this year was so bitter sweet. We were appreciative to be together yet our hearts were breaking for Aunt Kelly and the boys.
