2 Year Check-Up

It's been a while since we have gone to Dr Kuehan...THANK GOODNESS. You are so healthy and happy that it's nice to visit less frequently. I couldn't believe how giant you looked on the scale! haha. The DR said you are a big girl now. You need to follow simple rules and discipline and consistency is important. You will be testing boundaries and I need to find w=hat works best. Tantrums will be of the norm if we can prevent them through distraction that is great if not let you go through it and it will end. You are currently drinking 8 ounces of whole milk in the morning, 8 at nap and 8 at bedtime. She said to switch to low fat and to lessen the milk quantity. I don't agree with her and will not switch you. Fat is good for you. You eat well so I am not worried. You take 1 nap a day at about 12:30-1 and it last about 1.5 hours. You sleep well at night and regardless of the time we puyt you down you wake at about 7-7:30am. You are pretty strong willed but you also listen. You have tried to hit us on occasion but you are told no and you understand and say you are sorry. She said your verbal skills are amazing. You can count to 13 or so in English and Spanish to 10. You also know your abc's bout you've known those for a while now. You are so so healthy and that makes us sooo happy! This is where you measured in...
100% in height??!! Holy Moly you take after your Daddy.

You look so big on the scale.

My cutie.

Today Micaela and I went in for her year appointment. She did pretty good even with the shots. They were unable to measure her iron levels because she did not pee pee on the diaper pad. Here are her stat:

Lenth: 30 3/4 (94th percentile)
Head: 18 (73rd percentile)

Reccomendations:

6 month Dr's Visit

Today Dennis and I were able to take Micaela to her 6 month appointment. Here is how she is measuring up:

Weight: 14.20 (25%)
Height: 27.5 (95%)
Head 16.5  (47%)

She received her 3rd round of vaccines: pentacel, prevnar, and rotateq. We did not give her a flu shot.
Micaela is right on track developmentally and is also sleeping through the night. Dr Kuehan gave us the thumbs up for solids!

The menu:
2 weeks of rice cereal (1tablespoon for 2 weeks) Then add veggies then fruit. Wait 3-5 days before introducing new foods.

She suggested to start bay profing the house. She said to continue tummy time, books, music, mirrors, and she can now use sunscreen.

2month Check Up

Today was Micki's two month check up and vaccines. Dennis was a little apprehensive about the vaccines as he read a lot about the risks. He also has added concerns from family. Going to the Dr Kuehan today would not be easy.

She started with the good news. Micaela weighs 10.6 pounds 49 percentile and 23.5 inches long is 93 perecntile. She said her being able to bear weight on her legs and talking is outstanding! Then she went over the shots. Dennis only wanted to do some this visit not all. So she got Rotavirus, tDap, and HIB. Although we normally don't schedule a 3 month visit we will be in for the remainder of them. That made me happy because I love taking Micaela in to  see Dr Kuehan!

Overall Micaela did great! She cried a little but I nursed her immediately. Then when we got home we gave her a nice warm bath and gave her Tylenol. I cant believe it's been 2 months!

9 weeks Dr's visit

It's Veterans Day and Dennis gets to come to my 9 week appointment. Dr Kaleb may have to run over to the hospital as she has a mommy in labor. We are pretty excited so I was hoping she would not re-schedule on me!

Dennis and I arrived and we checked in. We went into the room and Dennis was ready with a million questions about Long Beach Memorial Hospital, foods I should avoid, prenatal vitamin questions. (which he already created a whole excel spread sheet on). He has been super awesome throughout these past weeks.

Dr Kaleb answered all of our questions and gave us our prescription to Nestab the prenatals Dennis is sure are the best! Then it was time to see our little baby! Its bigger for sure and looks a little more human. It made it real for the Daddy to be that's for sure!!

These past couple weeks I have been sooo beyond exhausted!!! I cant even keep my eyes open. I nap right when I get home until Dennis comes home then I wake up nauseas. I don't to eat anything because i get really grossed out. The minute I eat something though...voila...all better! So apparently eating is the cure. I have no morning sickness mainly just at night. I also have little stomach cramps that the Dr told me were normal since my uterus is growing. I cant wait until my next appointment. I never thought I would enjoy going to the doctor so much!!

1st Dr Visit: I can't believe it!

I cant believe they make you wait until you are at least 7 weeks to go into the dr. I thought this was suppose to be the most crucial developmental time? I made an appointment as soon as I could and I could not wait to see what Dr Kaleb had to say. I started reading lots and even looking for maternity clothes. D was not able to make this appointment because he had a major presentation at work thrown on him last minute. He wanted me to reschedule but honestly the baby is priority and I wanted to make sure he/she is in there. When I arrived at the appointment I was super nervous...it still seems a little unreal to me. Dr Kaleb was excited to see me as I was to see her. She has been my dr since I got married and I always talked about getting pregnant. haha. Well little did I know Dennis and I did not have to try too long. We are so blessed. When she put the jelly on my belly and then ran the ultra sound I nearly died. She said "There is your baby." I can honestly say I had no idea what I was looking at but I was overwhelmed with emotion so I cried..of course! She got a little teary eyed too. She told me she would see me in a few weeks and to hold off on telling family and friends as it's still so soon. I am soo excited to send Dennis the pictures of our baby!! What a journey this will be. The only thing in our lives that will tie us together forever!!! Ahhh I am soo excited!!!
