USC Mammoth Trip

This January it has rained uncontrollably, which means snow in the mountains, which means snowboarding season for Dennis, which means “AHHHH” for me. I did not grow up doing any kind of action sports. My parents always discouraged anything remotely dangerous. Dennis has always been the one to encourage me and push me to try new things. He essentially has been teaching me to snowboard for years now. Although I get frustrated and impatient trying to get down the mountain, there is nothing better than when he gives me a high five, says “See your getting it,” and then gives me an icy cold kiss!
This year I was able to go on the Marshall USC trip up to Mammoth which I missed out on last year. John and Michele were suppose to with us but cancelled on us last minute because of Charger play-off tickets. We still managed to have a blast! We bunked with Shruthi, Brent, Chris, and Andrea and we were fortunate enough to get the master bedroom. Friday we laid low, Saturday we boarded all day and went to the Marshall dinner at night. Sunday because of the high winds I opted out of boarding and D and I met up at Hyde Lounge later that night we threw a good cabin party, and left early Monday morning. The “peak” for me was riding down the black diamond for the first time, I still have so much fear but Dennis tricked me into doing in. Snowboarding is growing on me…stay tuned.
