A Tearful Christmas Day

Christmas Day at the Pattison's is finally here! We started our morning as we normally do with some music, coffee (oj in my case) and stockings. We all got such nice goodies from my in-laws! Then it was on to presents! We were on a time constraint since we had to be at Aunt Tina's for breakfast. We slipped the gold box with the ultra sound picture saying "It's a girl" under the tree. Dennis said whenever mom got to it would be fine. Michele did a great job distributing gifts this year. She loves watching people open presents. After a while of opening gifts Mom came to the gold box..I nudged Michele to watch since she was still under the tree seperating the gifts. Mom P opened the box and her reaction was super cute. She put her hands on her face in shock. It was a bit awkward cause no one knew what she had opened. She finally said it's a girl! Then Michele screamed...IT'S A GIRL!!! She started jumping up and down...she was soo adorable!! haha. Dennis and I got teary eyed which is so common for me...but Dennis??? It was a perfect way to tell our family. We finished opending all of our gifts. Our big gifts from Mom and Dad P were Coach Bags and the boys got beautiful leather laptap bags from Italy.

After we spent a great morning together Dad sat us down. He told us he had bad news.He very seriously explained what happened to Uncle Tim. It was such aweful news we all sat there in shock and I don't think it really seemed real to any of us. He would be on our minds non stop! This is the worst news for any family and hope and pray uncle Tim gets better soon.

We headed to Aunt Tina's and just hugged each other a little tighter. They were excited to hear we are having a baby girl. Oh my it feels so weird to even write it! We had breakfast and then opened more gifts. We called Grandma and Grandpa...Grandma said "Well finally we will have a little girl." haha. I think we all fell in love with Flynn as he opened his gifts! He was so excited to unwrap all the gifts. What a cutie pie!

We headed home to prepare for Christmas dinner. Alan and Gayle joined the family this year. While the women chatted in the kitchen, the guys hung out in the patio. We ate an awesome dinner that Mom P worked so hard on. When we all gathered hands Aunt Tina began the prayer. It was hard for her to get through it as her voice cracked and trembled. Earlier in the day she told me she was not ready to lose a brother. We all sat down to enjoy dinner and D and I sat at the kids table..I have a feeling that will be our usual table from now on. The onion loaf, the lasagna and the jello are my favorite. After dinner we all sat and watched Michele and John's video. It was so great to watch it and re-live what a great day that was.

We finished the night with some karaoke and for D and I with some tears. He drank a whole lot and I had been pretty emotional all day. With the passing of Jim, finding out about our baby girl and then the news about Uncle Tim, Dennis was an emotional wreck. We later talked about how blessed we are to have each other, our family, our new baby on the way and how so much was happening around us that we could not control. We finally went to bed and held each other a little tighter and prayed for Uncle Tim.

Our Christmas this year was so bitter sweet. We were appreciative to be together yet our hearts were breaking for Aunt Kelly and the boys.
