Mommy's Night Out

My in-laws came over to see Micaela they were so sweet to bring us a yummy lunch from the BBQ place we love. My friend Nancy was getting married today and although I RSVP'd for 2...we decided it was better for him to stay home with Micaela. My inlaw's would help while I was at the wedding. It was the first USC game of the season so it was going to be fun for them too. I got ready and was ready to leave. Micaela was crying so I was a bit nervous about leaving but they reassured me it would be ok. Leaving the house is such an ordeal...but I pumped and got at the door just in team.
I arrived at the wedding and saw some high school friends. Nancy looked gorgeous and the venue was so fun! AT the reception I kept calling home and Dennis did not answer whic worried me so much. He sent me a few text messages. "Come home sooner than later," "She's really fussy," "She's sucking on my arm" That's when I decided to leave. I did not really even get to dance or eat anything. I left by 8pm worried as could be.

I arrived home and apparently it was complete disaster....Micki cried or 2 hours off and on. Pooped 4 times..twice in the bath. Dennis and my mom in law had the time from hell trying to make her feel better. I seriously felt so guilty!!! How could I leave my little baby to suffer so much...ugh. I just want to kiss and hold her even though she was sleeping in Daddy's arms by now.

Being a mommy has really changed everything for me. My priorities are completely different. Nothing matters more than being with my baby and Dennis. I dont really have a desire to go out or to drink. Im so happy just staying home and being silly with Dennis to try to make Micaela laugh... holding her while she nurses or just playing in the mirror together. It's crazy how much my life has changed.. And I'm loving it.

Del Mar

Nancy and I drove down to Del Mar to meet up with Rene, Lacky, Cindy and a few of their friends for an evening concert of OzoMatli! It was so awesome catching up with my buddy we shared a great dinner together and a few margaritas. The concert was off the hook! I had never really heard Ozo's songs but the beats made me move for sure. I loved their music! After the show we all went out for sushi at Miso Horney! Great night with the MV girls.

Celebrating Begins with Friendship

This weekend was a birthday filled one! Friday after a long day of work Dennis and I drove down to meet the crew at Javier's in Newport to celebrate Stefan and Jose's birthdays. We fill a huge table with usual suspects (minus Amanda) and even a few fresh faces. We had a great time chatting although the table was so big it was hard to talk to everyone. It was great to see Erica as she is so cute preggo and is due any day now! After we headed to Landmark for a few drinks. Dennis and I came home exhausted!

Saturday we slept in until almost noon..oh my! In the evening we headed over to Jen's house for Jame's 30th bday get-to-gether. I only stayed for an hour and then headed to the OC by myself to celebrate Nancy's 30th at 300. It was so great to see the girls and I just can't believe I have been friends with Nancy for over 15 years.

Hanging out with the high school girls made me reflect in the the meaning of friendship! The word "friend" is hard to define, and it is ever so changing during the course of our life. Whe we are little a friend is someone you play tag with or sit next to at recess. In high school a friend is someone who you cheered with, or played a sport with. They came over every once and a while, you chatted about your crush and giggled about just about anything. During college your friends are the ones sharing all the new experiences with you school, love, your dreams, and ambitions, and even some partying. The friends that you really connect with remain and those that were out of pure convience are long gone. As we get into adulthood you form friendships with people you are around often, co-workers, classmates, or neighbors, again only the ones you truly connect with remain. I almost forgot to mention the built in friend network of your family! (Can't pick them..hehehe)

Friends should be there for you when you need them, to talk, to cry, to laugh. With all of our busy lives it is often hard to be that good friend, but we can always strive to be the best we can.

I am grateful I have long time friends, new time friends, and the good old family friends.
I am especially grateful to have a best friend in my mother, and especially blessed to have a best friend in my amazing husband.

FBP OVER!!!

What a stressful day! So of course I procrastinated sooo bad this weekend. Saturday I hung out with my mom and went to Jimmy's Arta at Mt Sac. I got a pedicure, went tanning. Went to Pasadena with Mo and Amanda..D is in Vegas on Mike's bach-party. It was great to see the girls...I love them! Sunday I woke up chilled...then I went to Nancy's pool party at custom hotel. It was so fun listening to music and chilling with Nat and Nanc. Came home later than I expected then napped....ahhhh! Totally unproductive academically...but socially...Wow jam packed right!
D finally gets home and all we want to do is be on each other...we had not seen each other since Thursday since he went to SD to a conference.
Realization...we are going to wait on the baby thing!! I thought about it pretty hard this weekend since I had to get off the pill soon. We need some more time to enjoy each other, and to breathe!!!

So of course with Monday class...I barely managed to finish my FBP, I actually stayed up until 2:30. Fortunately my honey helped me with the graphs and data...I really love him for that. In fact he gave up an hour to help me with my presentation.

Today I showed a movie and went to work on the handout, I fiinshed 5th period, ran and made copies..ran to Trader Joes then off I was to present.

It ended up being a great night...check it out!
