I've been home with my baby girl for 6 months and the time has come to go back to work. I have felt so much anxiety and fear about leaving her for months now. I couldn't even think about it without wanting to cry. She is a different baby now.. Sleeping through the night and no more colic. Still she is my baby. Her naps are still on me while nursing and only I know everything about what she likes and dislikes. I know her cries, her laughs, her wiggles! I went in for a day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I cried so much! I know I have to be strong but I just keep thinking that there is 8 hours of the day I will not spend with my daughter. Eight hours I have no control over what happens to her. I can tell Dennis or my mom what to do and how to do things but in the end they still will do what they want. Dennis will stay home with Micaela for the week I go back then it will be Christmas break. My mom will then watch her full time. The plan is for Dennis to drop her off and then I will pick up in the morning.
Fast forward.....
Going back to work has been challenging since I am still nursing. My typical work day...
5:30am wakeup, shower, pump while I do my makeup. Grab pump parts, lunch and head out. Micaela is usually sleeping when I leave.
At work...My students are dramatic but so far it's been fine. After 2nd period I scramble to pump as I only have 10 minutes and then 8 minute passing period. I make my students wait outside my room and sometimes the pound on the door which makes me so nervous. I pumps about 3-4 ounces. Then I teach 3-4 then its lunch time. I am usually starving and pretty tired. I have a student teacher, Susan Grimm 5th period and then I have 6th period conference. I usually pump during 5th or 6th period since my 5th period class is a little crazy and I need to support Ms Grimm. (I usually only get 2-3 ounces) Overall everyone has been pretty supportive..although I do feel socially isolated because I don't have the same time to hang out with everyone. My mind is very distracted and I don't care to much about work or grades. All I worry about is Micaela's milkitas and getting home to her. I miss her so so much and I usually watch videos and look at pictures while I am pumping.
Pick-up at Mom's
I usually leave 10 minutes early and arrive at my mom's by 3:15-3:30. I will usually try to nurse her right away. I get an update on how food and naps went for the day. Then my mom will feed me or pack me dinner. I load Micki and all the plastics in the car and hope she takes a little nap on the drive.
Evenings home:
Depending on if she has napped or not I nurse Micaela in the chair and we will both nap or just relax together. I then try to make food or eat something and clean up a bit. I am so tired that its really hard to do this. I play with Micki, feed her dinner and really just wait for Dennis to come home. Dennis arrives at about 630-7. We usually play a little..which is my favorite part of the day. We chase Dennis or read books on the bed. Micaela is the happiest when we play all together. We bathe her around 7:15-7:30. Then we go downstairs...turn on the white noise and I nurse her to sleep. She sleeps the whole night through.
After Micaela goes to bed:
Dennis and I eat dinner together and we both are pretty tired at this point. I have to wash all the plastics which is just the most annoying thing ever!! I get all of them ready in a plastic container and also get my lunch ready. Then I have to pump for the morning feed...so I usually watch tv while I do this. I am seriously so tired by the end of the day and I feel like a milk machine! It's crazy!! Its so important to me to get through her first year with just all mommas milk. Dennis will sometimes help me wash the plastics but know he is so tired too. Our life is a little bit of a whirlwind. I find that we are both a little sensitive and a little short tempered. I think we will get used to this.
I often wish I could just quit work and take care of Micki full time. I feel like I miss so much in the day. I know she is good hands and I am forever grateful to my mom for watching her. I know Micaela is safe and I know she loved so much by my mom, dad and brothers. I just miss her. There are days when I feel relieved to go to work as I can actually sit with adults to eat lunch or go to the bathroom without stressing out. Its what has to be done for now.

Push Gift
Micaela was down for the night and it was weird that Dennis astarted to get ready or bed early. I went downstairs to pump and just surf the net a bit. At about 11pm Dennis walked down and asked when I was coming to sleep. I thought it was funny since I often go to bed before him...so I followed him up and started to get ready for bed. He kept gigling and I couldnt figure out why. I threw back the cover to jump in bed and there to my surprise was a little white box and a note. I stood in SHOCK with my mouth open...hahah! I was like...what is this?? So I read the card...it was so sweet.
The note said..
Georgina,
I could never give you the gift that you gave to me. Our daughter is just so perfect and I never realized how much love I have in my heart. I am just so happy that you are the mother of my child and it has been amazing watching you and her grow.
I love you, Dennis
Then I was nervous to open the box and inside were beautiful diamond earrings! We don't have a ton off extra money with me staying home for the extra time but Dennis said he took money out of our savings. This was huge for him since he is such a "saver."
I did try them on and they a little big..hahah! Sounds funny I know. We decided to go check with Troy before I keep these...stay tuned. Regradless what I do with these I will never forget how special my hubby made me feel. He is amazing.

My 31st Birthday
My Tuesday birthday turned out to be pretty awesome! In the morning D brought me Starbucks, my students from last year baked me a cake, my crazy 4th period bought me a sweatshirt...specifically Kevin and Jimmy. Later that day I met Karla, Jacob, Leo, and my Mami at South Coast and we had an awesome dinner at Quatro Cafe. I shopped a while then I got home to some beautiful diamond earrings from my hubby! Happy Birthday to Me!

A Different Kind of 4th
This 4th of July was different for so many reasons. First we would not be on our annual Port Austin trip with the Pattison's and Second because John and Michele are no longer together. It has been three months and this is the first time I have been able to blog about it.
John and Michele were supposed to be engaged by now. For the past 2 years it has been a question of when NOT if! I have grown close to Michele not because she was around our family on Holidays and trips but because I love being around her. We just click, she makes me laugh and more recently cry. She is an open book with her close friends and see’s nothing wrong with sharing her emotions. She was had even told us the ultimatum John had received from her back in July. It was a “no brainer” and we all and by all I mean family and friends truly believed that we would have a great time at the wedding. Time went by John was heading to Thailand on his Globe Trip for USC. Michele was at home planning him an awesome 30th birthday party. He returned the weekend before Easter so we were all invited home to Murrieta where we had family filled weekend. They seemed to have tension between them and he seemed very stressed. He did not seem present as if he had so much on his mind. Dennis and I suspected something but we really did not know anything was going on. The following weekend we celebrated his 30th and again noticed tension between them in Pasadena. A week later Michele called me crying saying it was over. I was so confused and frankly she was not making much sense. She was a complete wreck and I only assumed he was feeling the same way. She made me promise not to tell Dennis so I kept my word, then a few days later she said it was ok to tell him. John had not really informed anyone and was being very private. Michele was my neighbor in Redondo and so I tried to be a good friend but really there is nothing a friend can do to help with heartbreak. It was also a difficult situation because Dennis sat me down and pretty much threatened me about getting involved. He said “I know she is your friend and we all love her but he is my brother first. If you ever give John a reason to be mad at you or at me I will not forgive you. They are adults, let them handle it.” I know right! I know he meant it because his brother means everything to him. My goal with Michele was to be there if she need me but to stay neutral..hearing one side of the story that is really difficult. Needless to say Michele went through many boxes of tissue it was so hard to watch but she is such a strong girl, and she was in pieces over John.
Fast forward to July 4th…..John and Michele are now “friends.” Again I am still confused. Saturday he picked her up and we went to Mama D’s to celebrate Dennis’s birthday. Then he came out again on the 4th of July and we all hung out all day. So we did not go to Port Austin but we were together and I was happy about that. I know they are going through a hard time. They may look back at this and laugh because they will be married to one another or they may look back and laugh/cry because they are not. I hope it all works out because I selfishly want her to be part of the family but in the end I just want two amazing people to find happiness.
One thing that have taken from J and M's break-up is to really appreciate the one you love. Sometimes we take our significant other for granted assuming that they will always be there. Through her tears Michele told me.."nothing matters to me without John. I don't care about work, family and nothing without him." What powerful words those were! It broke my heart but that is life nothing matters without the people that we love to share everything with!

Grateful!
It has been months of uncertainty…I have been teaching for six years now and it is what I love to do! I could not wrap my head around being laid off but after getting called in to the Principals office and filling out the Seniority survey I was sure I would get a pink slip. This definitely brought me closer to God..I have been praying more and usual. This week I was expecting my RIF notice and on Monday I did not get one. I could not hold back tears as Cheryl told Lisa Busch and I that I had avoided the cuts. I am so grateful because now I feel we can plan as we had been doing. I am sad for my friends that did receive a pink slip, especially for Cora who was not even warned and has been teaching for so long. I feel a bit of survivors guilt but there is nothing I can do. We will see what the future will bring, hopefully it’s all of my friends return next year.
I am so excited as I am off today to Europe. Our Paris/Rome vacation was planned last minute as a Master’s present to one another! We will no longer have to pay USC Marshall school and will have a little extra money. Last year we were in Japan for Dennis’s Globe trip. So we are off to explore a new adventure! We will be in Paris and Rome for 4 days a piece and will even meet up with my best friend from high school Luz and her husband Mike on St. Patty’s day. It was a mere coincidence and will only overlap one day. It was a very hectic week at school with lay-off notices and getting my sub plans ready.
I am excited to blog about my trip and will do my best to keep good notes and take cool pictures!
Arriva Derci and Au revoir!

30th Birthday Bash at Fat Face Fenners
So I was not feeling well on Thursday night so I decided to take Friday off to get better before my big birthday bash! Friday was great because I slept in and ran a few million errands! This included shopping of course! That night Dennis and I cleaned the apartment for hours which kinda put us in a cranky mood.
Saturday morning and YES…it’s the day of my party. Dennis kissed me goodbye as he pleaded with me to go the SC vs Arizona game…after all it was the last game of the season. I said sorry, and fell back asleep. I was off again, to pick up the cupcakes, get balloons, and sandwiches. This does not seem like it would take hours, but it sure did!
At around 4pm..Michele arrived to help me get ready. I loved getting ready with her..I tried on my outfits and she gave me the thumbs up on a cute little dress I bought at a surf store. After this the boys arrived..finally. I finished getting ready and it was already 5:30pm. I wanted to set up the balloons at Fat face but Dennis told me to calm down and not to make such a big deal of getting balloons there. Needless to say I took it very personal and I was so frustrated with the fact that he did not want me to go set up until his parents arrived! I finally said I was going, and he came with me. This sparked our first incident in the car…not fun. The decor was simple and cute…and we rushed back.
My in-laws arrived and we sang to Mr. P since we missed his 60th birthday, we also gave him a Flip camera. The crew arrived shortly and it was time to go.
We arrived and Michele’s roomies were already there. I was so excited and could not wait to see all my friends and family. Slowly but surely by around 7:30pm we had a big group. The night was great, everyone drank, and danced away….or maybe that was just me..hehe! I loved that my mom, and cousins and my sister Karla and brother Jimmy came..after all I had never really partied with them! Fortunately my mom left early…haha. I did way too many shots but I still remember telling myself to stay composed! My knees did give out a few times and Dennis and Sean had to pick me up. I Loved dancing with Michele, Amanda, Karla, Mauri, Julio, Georgina, Armando, Mami, Mo, Cole and DC, Lisa, and Corrin, and Amy…the list goes on and on. I had over 70 friends there. I remember the bar singing Happy Birthday after they were instructed to by Michele on the microphone..I don’t remember blowing out the candles though. OMG…what a night!
The lights went on and it was time to go. I really wanted Paisanos pizza but D insisted we go home. We got in a can and got home in an instant. I remember getting into bed and then D being upset at me. The night did not end on a positive note as D and I had a heated drunken discussion. I wish I could erase that from the night! Note to self: do not attempt to discuss your relationship while drunk!
My birthday celebration was so memorable and I am truly so blessed to have so many friends and family that love me enough to drive out to party with me. I especially was grateful to Michele for being my cheerleader and photographer and just my big supporter through the party planning process and the day of. My husband apologized the next day and in reality he was nothing but a sweetheart from beginning to almost the end. He met with Gary the owner with me, helped me decorate, was a great host, held me up all night, and picked me up after I fell a few times, and even fronted a big bill!
My twenties are gone and I feel like I am entering a new chapter in my life. I am excited to see what the future holds…travels, a new home, a baby, a new career for my hubby?? Only time will tell what will become of me and my family.

Celebrating Begins with Friendship
This weekend was a birthday filled one! Friday after a long day of work Dennis and I drove down to meet the crew at Javier's in Newport to celebrate Stefan and Jose's birthdays. We fill a huge table with usual suspects (minus Amanda) and even a few fresh faces. We had a great time chatting although the table was so big it was hard to talk to everyone. It was great to see Erica as she is so cute preggo and is due any day now! After we headed to Landmark for a few drinks. Dennis and I came home exhausted!
Saturday we slept in until almost noon..oh my! In the evening we headed over to Jen's house for Jame's 30th bday get-to-gether. I only stayed for an hour and then headed to the OC by myself to celebrate Nancy's 30th at 300. It was so great to see the girls and I just can't believe I have been friends with Nancy for over 15 years.
Hanging out with the high school girls made me reflect in the the meaning of friendship! The word "friend" is hard to define, and it is ever so changing during the course of our life. Whe we are little a friend is someone you play tag with or sit next to at recess. In high school a friend is someone who you cheered with, or played a sport with. They came over every once and a while, you chatted about your crush and giggled about just about anything. During college your friends are the ones sharing all the new experiences with you school, love, your dreams, and ambitions, and even some partying. The friends that you really connect with remain and those that were out of pure convience are long gone. As we get into adulthood you form friendships with people you are around often, co-workers, classmates, or neighbors, again only the ones you truly connect with remain. I almost forgot to mention the built in friend network of your family! (Can't pick them..hehehe)
Friends should be there for you when you need them, to talk, to cry, to laugh. With all of our busy lives it is often hard to be that good friend, but we can always strive to be the best we can.
I am grateful I have long time friends, new time friends, and the good old family friends.
I am especially grateful to have a best friend in my mother, and especially blessed to have a best friend in my amazing husband.

November..Procrastination is my Forte!
So my comprehensive exam was on November 14th and boy did I procrastinate!!
The first Sunday I bet the Long Beach Girls for drinks and brunch at Schooner or Laters for Becky's bday! What a great place to hang out and I of course loved being around the girls. This time Lisa even came along. Hardly any studying was accomplished!
The following week (Tuesday)I went on the annual Odyssey Field Trip to the IMAX and Science Center! I had so much fun with the kids, and love the America I Am exhibit on African Americans. Wednesday we had off and instead of studying I headed down to my mom's! Karla and my adorable nieces would be there and of course my little heart throb Jacob. We hung out all day and topped it off with dinner at the Fish Company!
Thursday was a packed day. I studied for a bit 6th period then after school at my mom's house. I headed over to Leo's last home game, then over to Corrin's for girls night! hahaha. I really couldn't miss it, the salad, the wine, the girl talk, all the things a girls needs once or twice a month..hehehe!
Friday was cram time! I took the day off and met my study buddy Natalia at the Library for some major case study action. We studied all day, writing out case after case, studying laws and the authors. I came home and more studying after more studying. After all this was it! I am all about binging and purging..when it comes to academic knowledge. Finally time to go to bed…I missed the Lakewood game (we won Moore League at Wilson) and I was going to miss the Stanford UCS game (We got killed 55 to 21..OUCH!).
Saturday…GAME TIME! I left extra early to pick some $Bucks and headed over to school, where I met up with my Cohort #20 buddies. We gave each other hugs and crammed a little bit before walking in. Then it was go time. The coordinator let us write down as much info on the bibliography from about 8 to 830am. Then test began….luckily I brought ear plugs because everyone’s clicking would have killed me!!! I have major ADHD. I did my best to get through the DATA question, and the 3 case studies. I remembered my laws and many quotes and over used both to support my answers. Finally the clock hit 12:30 and it was time to stop!
Cohort #20 was all outside and when I walked out we all game each other a group hug and decided to go celebrate to Chili’s! This was my e-mail to the group post test…
Randy, Shannon, Natalia, Todd James, Ken, Alida and I just finished taking the comps! Emotions ran high as well all walked out of the room and gave each other a big group hug! We decided to go to celebrate after and we reflected on our journey. We all shared how grateful we were to have such a great group that made on another laugh and just listened when we needed it most. We supported each other, we shared and cared (Care Bears, 1989). It was such a blessing to work with such an amazing group of professionals and just good people. I look forward to more celebrating...see you all at the reunion and hopefully at my party Dec 5th!! Georgina
It is not confirmed if I passed but I still feel AMAZING!!!

Halloween Sailing
Halloween finally falls on a Saturday and Dennis and I are in no mood to party. It seems like we never have time to relax together so this year we just wanted to lay low. It was so nice of Michele to invite us to sail with John and her Dad. Although I have been on a cruise ship and even on a little boat to go snorkeling, I had never really been on a big Catamaran. It was nothing like I expected, it was better! It was like a house on water, with a kitchen and bedrooms, and a few bathrooms down stairs, the best part was the net that you could lay on over the waves. Mr. Angeloni was just like Michele described, full of life and knowledge and mostly love for his daughter. It was such a relaxing day; we saw the Santa Monica Pier, cute Seals and we all managed to take a little cat nap over the water! That night we stayed home and did not mind one bit.
P.S. If you have not seen the "I'm on a boat" by Lonely Island on YouTube...do it now!!

October begins...
This month marked the beginning of Dennis’s job search. He has been at his current job for over 8 years and is currently Vice-President of Marketing. Although job security is there and the money is great, he is unhappy with so many aspects of working at RNC. It really takes a lot for him to open up about work but lately he has been voicing so much discontent. I really can’t relate, because I really love what I do. (I enjoy my co-workers so much. The guys in my hallway keep my laughing all day, while the kids give me so much energy to work hard for them, and now I even get e-mails from the girls!) We have put so much on hold… like buying a home and getting pregnant because we do not know where he is going to end up with this job search. So far he has a call back for an investment banking position with Bank of America and the Executive Rotational Program for GE . I am so excited for him, but I really just want to move forward with all of our plans. I want him to be happy in whatever he does. We are in such a transitional phase in our life and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
In other news…
October 1: Cora and Aaron finally had baby Luella June.
October 3: Attend the Scholarship dinner in Murrieta where I see my high school teachers.
October 9: Lakewood beats Poly!!! 21-14…last time was 1982! It was so great to witness the win!
October 10: Tamer and Stefanie get married after 8 years of dating.

September is Here!
When September comes I know Summer is over. No more sleeping in, lunch dates with my mom, seeing my nieces and nephews as often as I would like, working-out at noon, and only worrying about whats for dinner.
Labor Day weekend really marks the end of Summer and this year it was a great party! Saturday was our first home game at USC. Dennis and I have student season tickets and I enjoy tailgating and the games so much! We tailgate at the Marshall School of Business (D's and John's MBA school)and it's always a good time. We hung out with Jen, James, John, Sean (Mich was running her marathon) and hundreds of other Trojan fans. We left early because of the heat and headed to El Gringo for a yummy lunch.
Sunday was Fiesta Hermosa and we met up with Jen and James again. The beer tent was entertaining, and after we ate tapas at Mediterrano. Jen and James left Den and I headed to Dragon by ourselves...so weird but sooo fun. We drank a few more beers and had a great time dancing and laughing...my two favorite things! After we headed to Steve's house and played rock band for a few hours...WHAT A NIGHT!!!
Monday Leo and Mom came over and we walked to Fiesta Hermosa again, enjoyed shopping and lunch at Bluewater Grill. The great weekend came to an end!
I am back to work as a 6 year teacher. My first week went great, especially since I have a student teacher for two class periods. Although I am tired and I don't have the same amount of free time..I am glad to be back to work. I really needed a little structure back in my life. I am going to school one night a week as I have one class left for my Masters!!!!
I look forward to...more football, girls night with the Lakewood ladies, finishing my masters, my 30th birthday, and Christmas vacation.

Girls in Vegas
It's always so hard to get away, especially with all girlfriends. Well..Amanda, Kelly, Michele, and I headed out for Vegas this weekend. I had such an amazing time with all of them. We arrived Friday and checked into the Palazzo, we pooled it up all day. That night we strutted our stuff at Blush at the Wynn. What a great Friday night but we were all hurting a bit the next morning. Saturday we had a great breakfast and went to the Canyon Ranch Spa, after a nice little workout. What a relaxing day at the Spa, we did not even step foot outside. Sharing stories, and laughing was all we cared about. That night Cristina joined us, and even brought little Nikki so we could see him. We went to dinner at Sushi Samba a fusion resturant that Michele reps...we ordered a delicious meal! Mich was so sweet to hook us up. After hours of girl talk we went back to the Wynn. After a little dancing we went for a late night snack at Grand Lux. Michele and I took a quick 40 minute nap and then flew back to LA at 7am. I had such an awesome weekend chilling with the girls. It was so nice to see my hubby that afternoon, you appreciate each other after being away. Until next time...

D and G 4 Years!

It's been four years since I married the love of my life! This year our anniversary landed on a Wednesday and Dennis had a final on Thursday. On Wednesday we went to a quick dinner at Cheesecake, then on Friday we made reservations at Fonz's a seafood/steakhouse resturant in Manhattan Beach. Time is just going by so fast...I can't wait to make more memories!

Santa Barbara Wine Festival and AVP
Saturday we hoped on a USC bus and headed out to Santa Barbara for the Wine Festival. All the food and wine we could drink for only $55..which included the bus ride....which included mimosas and lots of carbs..hahaha. After a fun day sampling, D and I made a dinner stop at Tofu-Ya our favorite little tofu and KBQ place.
Sunday we rode to watch the AVP tourney in Manhattan Beach. Our view was excellent from the Pier. We caught the men and womens final which was so exciting! Dinner at El Gringo was such a great treat. I love summer here!

Cammie's 2nd Birthday Party!
D and I had great Friday night with the Baca's, Michele, John, and a couple of wine bottles. It was so nice sharing our new place.
Saturday morning we headed out for the ETA..for Cammies 2nd B-day Party. What a day! The food was yummy, and family is always nice to be around. I was a bit frustrated with the lack of family help despite my sissy being 8 months preggo. Cammie was a doll, she loved her pinatas and the Yo-Gaba Gaba decorations. The gifts were a bit much for her because she was sooo tired. I hope she enjoys her "birthday scooter."
