I was so excited that Dennis gave me the reigns to plan this year’s Valentines Day. After much debating I decided to book a room at South Coast Wineries. The day of departure finally rolled around and he surprised me with six different wines to share. Little did he know we were going wine tasting for the weekend. He was truly surprised, so I think and was also ready to enjoy a romantic weekend. We stopped at Thorton winery where I managed to drop our dinner on the floor..ugh…of course I would do that. We checked in at South Coast and had another tasting there and went back to the room where we knew cheese and crackers would not be enough. We headed out for dinner…Papa John’s..so funny right. We came back and enjoyed an awesome bubble bath..although I did pour almost the whole bottle into the tub. It felt like a movie, drinking more wine, playing with the overflow of bubbles and really just talking about our future. (It really gave us time to analyze all of the scenarios since it is highly likely I will lose my job this year due to district budget cuts.) It also allowed us to appreciate each others company, and reminded us that we don’t need a house, new cars, or even a job to be happy. We really just need each other and we will find a way. The next morning we worked out together in what felt like our own private gym. After that we enjoyed an awesome brunch, and then we headed out for a few more tastings.
Later that night we went over to Aunt Tina’s for dinner. The Pattison’s were all there, with the exception of John and Michele who had driven out the night before. We enjoyed an awesome Italian dinner and then ended up on a double date with Laura and Merv. Monday we stopped to visit my nieces and nephew and then drove home.
I know that Valentines Day is not a big deal to many of us, but it really is an excuse to be romantic and devote a little time to making our significant other feel loved and appreciated.
I love you Dennis…
Ohhhhhh....that is so awesome and sweet! *tears* So glad you took some time to celebrate and enjoy one another. :)
